Care & Maintenance

Expert tips for preserving and cleaning your epoxy floors for long last lasting protection and beauty.

This guide provides key maintenance tips for epoxy floors, including recommended cleaning practices and products. It highlights routine care, preventive measures, and resealing to ensure durability and addresses epoxy floor resilience during winter.

Cleaning Your Interior Epoxy Floors

Cleaning your epoxy floor is one of the easiest places to clean in your whole house! In fact, you can clean it with things you probably already have.

What you’ll need:

  • Broom & Dust Pan or Vacuum
  • Dish Soap (recommended: Dawn Powerwash) or Degreasers (recommended: Simply Green or Purple Power)
  • Water
  • Bucket
  • Mop
  • Foam/Rubber Squeegee or Sponge Mop
  • Optionally, a Carpet Cleaning Machine

Yup! That’s it, no fancy cleaning chemicals or machines to tidy up the nicest floor in the neighborhood.

Now, let’s go over the steps of cleaning your epoxy floor!

  1. Clear out the space with the floor of any bags, boxes, cars, toolboxes, or anything else that might hide that pesky dirt.
  2. Brush all the dirt and debris into a pile and dispose of it properly until there is no more large movable dirt or grime. Vacuum as needed.
  3. In a bucket, pour warm water and the dish soap of your choice. We highly recommend Simply Green or Purple Power although you can also use carpet cleaner as well, and mix until it becomes foamy.
  4. Dip your mop into the bucket enough to dampen the end and then mop the floor as you would hardwood or linoleum floors.
  5. After mopping, take your squeegee and push the dirty water outside or down a waste drain. If you don’t have a squeegee you can use a wet vac to soak up the excess water.
  6. Rinse the floor to remove any leftover dirt or grime.

If you are using a carpet cleaning machine, you can clean just like you would any other carpet!

That’s it! Follow those steps and your epoxy floor will look brand new in no time!

Cleaning Your Exterior Epoxy Floors

Cleaning your exterior epoxy floor might feel a little intimidating but don’t worry, it’s just like cleaning a walkway!

With our exterior epoxy flooring, you can use a pressure washer at lower psi settings with a flare nozzle adjustment. You will need a dish soap mix. We suggest using Dawn dish soap, or a degreaser. We suggest using Simply Green or Purple Power. This will give you that bright lively look again, especially if your flooring has gathered dust and debris over the months or even years!

That’s all there is to make your floor look new again!

Preventive Maintenance

  1. Avoid leaving harsh chemicals sitting or pooling on your floor! This will increase the longevity of the floor to keep chemicals that may cause the flooring to flake, dissolve, or become brittle away from the floor.
  2. Keep up with general cleaning and maintenance in high traffic areas. Dirt and grime can scratch, chip, and ruin surfaces when pressure is applied. This can happen in high-traffic areas where dirt is being pushed into the flooring.
  3. Get your flooring resealed based on the following guidelines. Resealing will help keep the floors looking fresh for years. Included in our warranty is a free annual inspection of the floor to see if resealing is needed or advised for your floor’s life.
    • Every 8 years for our Flake, Quartz, or Metallic products
    • Every 5-8 years for our Vuba Stone or Rubber products
  4. Avoid dragging, dropping, or rigid heavy objects on the floor. Dragging, dropping and rigid heavy objects can chip, crack, and scratch your floor. This can cause a wide variety of structural issues as well as obvious cosmetic issues.
  5. Avoid excess moisture. Excess moisture can cause faster deterioration of the floor and reduce the overall life of the floor. A well climate-controlled environment for the floor will ensure a prolonged life and maximize the time between resealing.

Follow these tips to get the most out of your epoxy floor and ensure your floor has a healthy long life.
